My time with HHREC this semester has been truly insightful and conducive to my understanding of what resources are available for Alameda county residents. I went into HHREC wanting to learn more about the local community around Berkeley and acknowledge the work that has gone to support the health and longevity of Alameda county residents. All of that aside, I am most appreciative of the connections I have made and people I have met at this fantastic organization. I have learned so much in the ways of the changing needs of Alameda county and what can be done to better support vulnerable populations through holistic (and sometimes deemed unconventional means). Sara and Shanina were the most kind and supportive leaders we could have had as HSI interns. Most of all, I am optimistic that HHREC will continue to do great things to support Alameda county and advocate for its people for a long time to come!
